Robert Sudlow1920 – 2010
Robert Sudlow (1920 – 2010). Born in Holton, Kansas, he earned a BFA from the University of Kansas in 1942 and an MFA from the California College of Arts & Crafts in 1956 studying with Richard Diebenkorn. He joined the faculty at the University of Kansas in 1946 and continued teaching there until his retirement in 1987. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and is included in the collections of the St. Louis Art Museum; Cleveland Museum of Art; Joslyn Art Museum; Mulvane Art Museum; Albrecht-Kemper Museum; Brooklyn Museum; Nelson-Atkins Museum; Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery; Spencer Museum of Art, and the Beach Museum of Art. Shown, is one of six tinted lithographs on paper titled in the lower left margin, “Price’s Farm,” and numbered 28/35. In the lower right margin the piece is signed, “Sudlow” and is dated, “1989.” 8” x 10” Price shown below includes all six lithographs in the series including: “Lone Star Runoff“, “O’Hara’s Creek“, “Price’s Farm“, “Shuck’s Farm“, “Strong’s Field“, and “Wakarusa Valley“. Because Sudlow, the artist, created the six editions as a cohesive set, the lithographs cannot be offered for sale individually.
